Be Thankful + Halloween Treats

 photo 2016 09-20 Succeed Weekly sans a_zps9ubcj61h.jpg
Look what I made!
I made these projects for Stampin' Up! demonstrators to get extra ideas on ways to use their stamp sets.  Lucky for you, I can share this with everyone (since I made it.)

To break down each project set I do, I'm supposed to create a project for the avid, casual, and new stamper.  So smart!  So no matter where you are on the crafting spectrum, you can create these items.

photo Blog-1_zps5bqkvaux.png  This card is for the New Stamper.  I used the Sparkle Embossing Folder for the base of the card.  To get your pumpkin all cute and colored, after you stamp your pumpkin, use your sponge dauber (in a circular motion) to color the inside.

photo Blog-2_zpssrxfhopt.png  This project is for the Casual Stamper.  I bought these adorable straws at my local craft store and couldn't wait to use them.   To get the criumpled olive banner, literally crumple up your paper.

photo Blog-3_zpsntkptr7a.png  This treat box is for the Avid Stamper.  There are lots of things going on with this project but that's the only reason it's for the avid stamper.

Let me know what you think!

I promise you won't want to miss a single project!!

Have you ever heard of The Wood Connection?  It's a great store in Utah that sells custom cut wood designs.  I {heart} this store SO much!!  While browsing their Halloween woodcuts, I found this gem:
 photo 201309Artisan4aacopy_zps4920721a.jpg

My brain just started going CRAZY with all the ways I thought about decorating the wood.  In the end I decided to keep it somewhat simple and classy so that when I add it to my Halloween decorations, it will stand the *trends* of time.

Each letter is about 7" tall.

Tell me what you think.
photo 201309Artisan4acopy_zps25e1d7c2.jpg When you distress the edges of the paper with a Bone Folder it gives just a little extra detail to give the paper some dimension on the wood.

I used the sponge dauber on the lighter colored DSP and the Razzleberry cardstock.  When you distress the black DSP the edges turn white so you don't have to do anything extra.

I applied Mod Podge to each letter and then applied the cut DSP to the letter.
Smooth down the middle of each letter with your Bone Folder.
I wasn't concerned with having the edges of each letter lay completely flat because I wanted the distressed edges to curl and pop off the wood letters.

I love Halloween!  I love all the fun decorations and the candy!!!  I love giving away decorated treats as well as receive them.  *wink* *wink*  If you know me even just a smidge, you know that I also LOVE to use my scraps.  This project is one of the best ways to use up scraps of ribbon.  Feast your eyes on these delicious treats!

I used the templates in the Build A Banner Simply Created Kit and just smashed my VersaMark on top of the stencil.  EASY!  Then pour your Heat & Stick Powder on.
Heat until your powder is tacky/sticky looking.
Then pour your glitter on top.
Heat again.

Done.

Do you like my cute little glimmer brad?  You can make one easy peasy.  Here's the recipe:

You can probably tell by now but a lot of the items in the Artisan Box this month were Halloween.  I loooooove making Halloween projects.  I can't wait to decorate my house for Halloween.  My decorations are really fun and this project I created will fit right now.

Everyone needs cute Halloween decor, right?  Right.  So this is how you can easily make your own.
Witches Decor a photo 201309Artisan2acopy_zps1824693e.jpg
This wood block is 8.5" x 3.5".  Perfect for any wall hanging or display piece on a shelf or mantle.

Do you recognize the "Witches" banner?
Recognize it now?  It's from the Witches' Brew Digital Download.

A little time consuming but this is how I "clipped" the webs and wording at the top.
  1. Insert the portion of the DSP you want into a Photo Box in MDS.
  2. In photo effects, invert the colors.  This will turn all your whites black and vice versa.
  3. Export new image to a pdf.
  4. Open in PhotoShop (this is just what I did but I'm sure you could use another software that will let you edit images.)
  5. Crop OUT images you don't want - like the Candy Shoppe etc.
  6. Delete out background specs you don't want.
If you do all those things, you'll get this:

Witches Decor e photo 201309Artisan2hcopy_zps0a096567.jpg

I was feeling pretty fancy at this point.  By the way, this idea just popped into my head one night and I tried it the next morning and it worked.  LOVE it when that happens!
  1. Print your new image on DSP.  The image is black and the DSP I printed it on was black so I had to look for the shinky parts of the print.
  2. Trace very carefully with your White Chalk Stampin' Write Marker.
 photo 201309Artisan2i_zps4ff4e66e.jpg
That's it!  It's a simple process but it does take a while.  I can't wait to try this on more images.  I love how it turned out!

Wanna create custom colored glimmer paper?
Easy.

Drop 30 droplets of ink in a Stampin' Spritzer.  Fill the rest of the Spritzer with Alcohol (this helps with the drying process.)  SHAKE/Mix well!  Then spritz your silver glimmer paper.  The paper will hold the color of the ink.  I used Basic Black.

LOVE!

Also, I'll just put in a small plug for dimension:  This project would look totally different if I just stamped on paper and left it flat.  Give your projects dimension by crumpling, curling, using dimensionals, etc.  DO IT!

Colored rhinestones?  Easy.  Color our Basic Rhinestones with any color Sharpie and they will look AMAZING!

This project was a spinoff from another project you'll see later this month.  I love it when that happens!

Halloween is right around the corner so that means you need to start making your projects now or AT LEAST buy (and eat) the candy.

Yes?

Yes.

Do you know how to create a fabric lolly?  Sew a straight stitch (by hand) along one of the edges of the ribbon (about 1/8" in) in and out, in and out, or up and down.  Whatever - I'm not a technical person.  Then gather your ribbon.  You get a squished piece of ribbon.  Put the ends together and you've got a fabric lolly.

I'm sure you already know this but you can color our basic rhinestones with Sharpie markers to get gorgeous colored rhinestones.  Go!  Go make some!
