For some of you this is a complete review on how to make the 2-4-6-8 Box... for others, THIS IS GENIUS! At least that's what I thought the first time I made one a couple of years ago.
I think this project works best with Designer Series Paper, but of course, you can use cardstock. If you use DSP then you can seal the bottom of your box with SNAIL adhesive. If you use cardstock, you MUST use Sticky Strip or else the bottom of the box will break open because the cardstock is so heavy.
Make sure you test one out on computer paper before you crack open your fancy schmancy paper.
On to the directions:
Make sure you test one out on computer paper before you crack open your fancy schmancy paper.
On to the directions:
- Cut a piece of DSP 8-1/2"x5-1/2".
- On the long side, score your paper at 2", 4", 6", and 8".
- Turn your paper sideways and score the paper at 2".
- Snip your paper on the score lines from step #2 but ONLY up to the new 2" score line.
- Crease all of your score lines.
- To create the bottom of your box, start with the 1/2" strip and fold it into the adjacent 2"x2" piece. Do that for each adjacent piece until all the flaps are folded underneath and you just have one last, nice square showing. (I do this before I start taping everything to make sure it fits nicely.)
- Put SNAIL on the pieces that will be hidden underneath along with the long 1/2" piece that will create the long side of the box. If this step is confusing, just email me.
- If you have completed all these steps properly, your box should look like this:
- Push 2 of the sides in while you are making the tops align.
- Use your Crop-A-Dile to punch half circle holes in the side (this is for the ribbon to sit in.)
- Put your treat, prize, candies, etc in the box, then close the top again and tie the ribbon on.
- Add embellishments to the front to make it fabulous.
Anyone would LOVE to get this little treat on their doorstep! These boxes are really easy to recreate too! You can email your orders to me today so that you can make tons of these little boxes.
